My first neighborhood, Alamo Square where so many tourists point a camera toward the downtown skyline via the 'Seven Sisters.' It is a photogenic district, though no one needs reminding of that particular vista. The rooflines are my favorite aspect of this high Edwardian enclave, saved just barely from Redevelopment that went off like a bomb for 25 blocks just to the north, along Fillmore Street. That district never recovered, despite what the realtors say. We can take pride in what remains, even as the jazz notes fade in The Fillmore.
