New Year, New Rug

New Year, New Rug, originally uploaded by deanv41.

I spent all afternoon choosing a rug. Looking around the past few weeks has been an education in what the currency of a rug really means, what its provence and style recollect, and what one should and should not pay for it.
This is a new rug I purchased on the 7th floor of Macy's, Union Square. It was originally $700. I got it for $300. The maker is India House and the pattern is called Isfahan. It attracted me for its brightening color scheme and for the Persian design history. The size is five feet by eight feet and it makes my main room warmer and much more comfortable.
