Tike's Bike

Tike's Bike, originally uploaded by deanv41.

I came across this wonderful bike rack in The Western Addition by The Panhandle yesterday. It's in front of a school. The city could always be more innovative about things like street elements -- benches, bus shelters, lamp posts, bike racks, etc. Nothing is more irritating than trying to lock your bike to a rack that was clearly designed by someone who never rides, much less locks up, a bike. Now that the bike lanes are going in there is a greater demand for secure bike racks. (After a protracted and stupid lawsuit a 'concerned citizen' filed for an EIR to study the negative effects of bike lanes on SF...?...phth...] I love this concept and color scheme.
This image made me laugh out loud. It's adorable and functional.
