Action Battlefield

Dan Plasma Truck on Polk Street, originally uploaded by deanv41.

The city has turned its attention to mobile graffiti, the stuff on delivery trucks around town, citing it as blight and considering punitive fixes. I'm against this idea, especially when I catch sight of Dan Plasma's work on an old ugly U-Haul truck. It's sublime and adds terrifically to the cityscape. Why is any advertising good to go but individual artistic expression diminished and attacked? If it is a property issue, that is legitimate and should be adjudicated or otherwise resolved, but if it is simply an aesthetic one, i believe City Hall is shooting itself in the foot picking this battle.
