Tenderloin's Castle

The Castle Apartments were built in 1927 and dominate the skyline along this stretch of Geary Street. There's some conflicting information regarding whether the fabled architect Bernard Maybeck had a hand in the project, though it seems doubtful. It nevertheless has the same dreamy, aspiring qualities Maybeck brought to the built environment of The Bay Area. I'm told this place is much more beautiful to look at than live in, but aren't most castles?
