Heavy Water

A few weeks ago, I saw Grouper at a new music festival and bought the album, Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill. Its acoustic ambient rushes are not immediate, falling into the cracks of your mind slowly but surely. I'm interested in the way fresh sounds come along from the usual instruments, moving past the rock and roll era into something more contemporary. "Hauntology" has been used to get at the elusive folk specter of Grouper's kind of sound. Her music is there and not there.
