I'm revelling in the new collection of reworked songs from Suzanne Vega. I've said here before that I am a very big fan of her Pointillist-perfect New York portraits that seem to gather more life over the years since I fell for her 1985 debut. That album so marks my high school senior year with its immaculate Lou Reed-inspired folk rock songs completely against the grain of the times and I still listen to it.
These 25 years later her catalog bursts with so many classic songs, a few achieving very widespread appeal like "Luka," and "Tom's Diner."
I follow her on facebook and find her one of the most appealing, down-to-earth, smart & beautiful artists of the era.
