As a high Edwardian showcase, The Haight Ashbury District still reminds me of the human potential of great San Franciscan streetscapes. I've lived and worked there over the years and enjoy renewing my love for it by trekking often through its shops, galleries, and restaurants. Of all the neighborhoods of San Francisco, it strikes a perfect equilibrium between intensely inhabited city and sparkling park land. The residents take such great care in facades and container gardens. It isn't overgrown, as places in the Pacific Northwest so often are, but rather defined tidily between the wild life and the cleaner lines of good living.
