Lay down your dreams on my pillow,
-- Broadcast, 2003.
To remember the Ha Ha Sound of Broadcast filling a room with a nostalgic sense of the future is to recall the genius of Trish Keenan and her partner in hauntology, James Cargill, seeking the occult electronic moment, thick with symbols and a threatening beauty.
She died of pneumonia last January, suddenly at the age of 42.
The film sync'd with this song is a film of the 1970s; the underground cult classic called Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. I saw it with my niece a few years ago at The Castro Theater set to the live music of Espers. It was an austere & bizarre event on Valentine's Day, done with weird love and an açid edge. It is best remembered as if in a dream.
