Chain Bridge Forint

Chain Bridge Coin, originally uploaded by deanv41.

Likely the last post on Budapest as I've finally gotten my feet fully on the ground again in San Francisco and Hungary is fading into a fond memory. The Chain Bridge [Széchenyi Lánchíd], seen here on a Hungarian forint coin, dates from 1849 but was rebuilt after its destruction during the Siege of Budapest in WWII. It's an elegant connection over the Danube between Buda and Pest and an apt symbol of this grand, bifurcated city.
