On Sunday, i went to the annual Outside Lands Music Festival in Golden Gate Park. Now in its fourth year, it seems to be hitting a good stride and is a huge asset to San Francisco's busy Summer season. Of the dozen or so acts I saw, no duds and many gems: the ebullient tUne-YarDs, the ridiculously danceable !!!, the solid Lord Huron among the new finds; the howling wonder of Wye Oak, the hits of John Fogerty, and the Sunday sermon of Mavis Staples among the rich classics. As a finale, the festival could hardly have chosen a more appropriate band with The Arcade Fire.
A music fan couldn't have asked for a better day in the park.
Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak.
tUnE-yArDs on The Sutro Stage in Lindley Meadow.
Merrill Garbus of tUnE-YarDs. So wildly impressive!
Nic Offer of the Sacramento dance band, !!!
