Occupy Everything

Fleeting House is dedicated to the aesthetics of urban life, but to overlook a political moment that is as intense as now would be to wear blinders. The economic imbalance is so extreme and getting worse by the day. Last night in Oakland, police moved in on protesters and ultimately critically wounded an Iraq War Veteran named Scott Olsen, who had done two tours overseas. I fully expect this to raise all the stakes. He remains in critical condition and the police now have A LOT to answer for by mishandling, brutally, a peaceful assembly of American citizens seeking redress of obviously dire economic injustices. I'm heartened to see that some have taken it upon themselves to point out the obvious and begin to do something about it. The situation as it is cannot hold.

We Are the 99%
