Jerry Garcia in the Excelsior District

I spent part of yesterday afternoon revisiting The Excelsior District to have a proper look around. The vibe felt much like the Mission District as it was before the Dot.Com booms, with no trendy restaurants, lots of produce markets, old-fashioned lunch counters, no pretense but a strong sense of community identity. The district also has a number of decent murals, including this one that celebrates one of the area's most beloved citizens, Jerry Garcia, who grew up here before making his enormous mark on San Francisco and American music.
