Two Ladies on the Wall

These Victorian sisters are skating away on a wall somewhere in The Richmond District. A tile like this is incidental enough, unobtrusive, but done with a certain care and placed so that it is seen. It helps create local identity without being overly commercial; a signpost without words. It's handmade, which is a relief in this all digital era. It'll be there for decades unless it's painted over, which is less likely as it is a dimensional object and clearly not graffiti. I'd love to see more of these tiles mounted on walls near intersections around the city. It would be a good public art project for the neighborhoods. Ladies On the Wall
