The Watcher

I'm sunburnt today after a long sunny afternoon South of Market for what may be the last Dore Alley Fair. This kink fest is the nastier younger brother of the Folsom Street Fair and is much more local and  male oriented. It's a wonderful public exhibition of the man's physique and sexual community (all your old tricks are here!). It would be such a shame if the city lost one of its most exuberant festivals.
Bacchanalia's go back to the earliest times and still have a place in our ever-more-regimented society. It's an essential steam valve on the pressure cooker of American city life and helps mollify the sexual animal in an overt, safe, public and healthy way. To nix it would achieve nothing and please only a few real estate interests that are, frankly, new to the area. The displacement of subcultures is a relentless process that sometimes takes literally Fucking in the Streets to register a proper protest against the encroaching nanny state through public pleasure.
Here's the first of a series of shots I took yesterday. I love this man on the cornice of a building overlooking the crowd. He seems resolutely focused on the men below.
